NEW EXHIBITION FOCUSES ON PORTRAYALS OF THE HUMAN FIGURE
An exhibition focusing on 13 artists’ renderings of the human body as vehicle for their artistic voice will be on display October 26-December 22 at The Galleries at the Cabarrus Arts Council. The Galleries are located at 65 Union Street South in Cabarrus County’s historic courthouse.
Artists include Robert Crum, Warren Dennis, Holly Fischer, Tim Ford, Jan Kransberger, Lukas Johnson, Eric Olsen, Osiris Rain, Joan Rasmussen, Mark Stephenson, Kate Long Stevenson, Beth Tarkington and Megan Van Deusen.
The Galleries also are featuring two other exhibitions: Shop Seagrove and The Home of the Perfect Christmas Tree. Shop Seagrove includes pottery from six of the famed pottery town’s potteries: Avery Pottery and Tileworks, Cady Clay Works, Dirtworks Pottery, Chris Luther Pottery, Crystal King Pottery and King’s Pottery. The Home of the Perfect Christmas Tree includes ornaments and other handcrafted items based on Gloria Houston’s book, The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree.
Several special events will be held in conjunction with the exhibitions. A downtown Concord Art Walk, featuring visual art at several locations and entertainment, will take place on Friday, November 20, 6-9 p.m. Two of the exhibiting artists will present free gallery talks: Eric Olsen on Thursday, November 12, at 7 p.m. and Osiris Rain on Thursday, December 10, at 7 p.m. The talks are co-sponsored by the Cabarrus Art Guild.
