2pm; NC poet laureate Jaki Shelton Green will speak as part of the annual meeting of the Concord Friends of the Library. She is the first African American and third woman to be appointed as the North Carolina Poet Laureate. Ms. Green is a writer, a poet, and a North Carolina native whose publications include Dead on Arrival, Dead on Arrival and New Poems, Masks, Conjure Blues, singing a tree into dance, breath of the song, Blue Opal (a play), and Feeding the Light.
