SUMMARY:FREE DEMO: AI Integration in Creative Workflows
DESCRIPTION:Josh King is a creative producer\, storyteller\, and multimedia artist with more than two decades of experience in broadcast television\, design\, 3D modeling\, motion graphics\, documentary production\, animation\, and long-form storytelling. \n  \nA retired U.S. Army First Sergeant\, and creative producer in Mecklenburg County’s Public Information Department\, Josh brings disciplined leadership along with innovative strategic thinking to every creative project that he leads. Over the course of his career Josh has received various recognition for his work including two Emmy Awards for excellence in visual storytelling and production. \n  \n A lifelong learner\, Josh recently earned the Certificate for Applied Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology\, deepening his understanding of large language models and practical AI implementation. \n  \n To enhance efficiency in his work\, Josh actively integrates AI into creative workflows—using it for concept development\, visual prototyping\, automation pipelines\, and scalable content production. He is a firm believer that AI should be viewed as a force multiplier in the modern creative landscape\, and not a replacement for talent or creativity.

SUMMARY:Create a Goldfinch Needle Felted Fiber Painting
DESCRIPTION: Learn to use needle felting wool fiber to “paint” a picture.  We will be starting with a prefelt base (sheet of partially felted wool) that has a transfer of the simple photo of a goldfinch in a flower garden. Then\, using our fibers and needles we will try and recreate our picture in fiber (and of course use our creative license!).  We will be learning to blend fibers to get our results. Our “painting” will be an 8 x 10 picture which can easily be placed in an 11 x 14 mat and frame. \nThe materials will include fiber to complete the project\, 2 felting needles\, prefelt base with transfer of image of sleeping kitty and a foam work pad.    Students only need to bring a sense of humor and their imagination! \nIrene began needle felting (both 2D and 3D) in 2002 when the fiber art form was relatively unknown in the United States.  Since then\, she has won many awards for her work across the country.  She has produced an instructional DVD and is currently working on a needle felting book.  \nIrene lives in Western North Carolina near Asheville with her husband and fur family.

SUMMARY:Procreate Basics: The Artist’s Hand in a Digital World
DESCRIPTION:Learn the essentials of Procreate in this hands-on\, 3-hour workshop designed for beginners and open to anyone who wants to sharpen their digital art skills. We’ll cover the entire Procreate interface\, from creating a new canvas to mastering brushes\, layers\, masking\, alpha lock\, clipping masks\, color tools\, selections\, and export options. You’ll work step-by-step on a guided donut illustration project\, applying each tool and feature as you learn it\, and then transform that illustration into a professional-quality sticker design — ready for printing\, merchandise\, or use in digital applications. \nDigital art and AI art are not the same. In this class\, you’ll experience true\, hand-drawn digital art created entirely by the artist. Every brushstroke\, color choice\, and layer is placed with intention\, just like traditional painting or drawing\, but using the iPad as the canvas and the stylus as the brush. The artistry lies in the hand and mind of the creator — the tools simply help bring the vision to life. \nBy the end of class\, you’ll: \n• Understand Procreate’s interface and essential tools \n• Organize and work with layers effectively \n• Apply masking\, alpha lock\, and clipping masks \n• Use color palettes\, selections\, and transformations confidently \n• Export your work for print or digital sharing \n• Create a high-quality digital sticker design from your illustration\, suitable for multiple professional uses \nInstructor Bio: \nLisa Albinus is a professional illustrator and art educator with over 20 years of experience in both traditional and digital mediums.
