SUMMARY:Create a 3D Needle Felted Otter
DESCRIPTION:Come and create a cute (or maybe not so cute – oh … who are we kidding – they are all cute!) otter character for yourself or a special someone. Great way to practice the use of shapes and colors to create your character! Create a playful otter and learn needle felting skills or add to the knowledge that you may already have! \nThe materials will include fiber to complete the project\, 2 felting needles\, and a foam work pad.    Students only need to bring a sense of humor and their imagination! \nIrene began needle felting (both 2D and 3D) in 2002 when the fiber art form was relatively unknown in the United States.  Since then\, she has won many awards for her work across the country.  She has produced an instructional DVD and is currently working on a needle felting book.  \nIrene lives in Western North Carolina near Asheville with her husband and fur family.

A prepared line drawing will be provided\, allowing you to focus on color and technique without worrying about drawing accuracy. Bring the colored pencils you already own\, and learn how much they can do in the right hands. \nLisa Albinus is a professional illustrator\, botanical artist and art educator with over 20 years of experience in both traditional and digital mediums. She teaches at the Cain Center for the Arts\, Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC)\, and across multiple platforms and institutions. \nLisa is currently studying with the Society of Botanical Artists in London\, with graduation expected in 2028. We’ll cover the entire Procreate interface\, from creating a new canvas to mastering brushes\, layers\, masking\, alpha lock\, clipping masks\, color tools\, selections\, and export options. You’ll work step-by-step on a guided donut illustration project\, applying each tool and feature as you learn it\, and then transform that illustration into a professional-quality sticker design — ready for printing\, merchandise\, or use in digital applications. \nDigital art and AI art are not the same. SUMMARY:Cabarrus Art Guild Workshop: A Taste of Paper Marbling: Japanese and European Styles
DESCRIPTION:Curious about paper marbling? In this half-day introductory experience\, students will explore two distinct approaches to this centuries-old art form: Japanese suminagashi and European combed marbling. We’ll begin with suminagashi\, the ancient Japanese practice of floating ink on water to create delicate\, organic patterns. This is an accessible (and very “Zen”!) entry point into marbling\, allowing participants to quickly begin creating original designs. In the second part of the class\, the instructor will demonstrate traditional European marbling techniques\, and students can take turns working on a shared marbling tank to experience these classic combed patterns firsthand. Participants will leave with a collection of their own marbled papers (which can be used in collage\, book-and cardmaking\, decoupage\, etc.) and a foundational understanding of Japanese and European marbling.
