SUMMARY:Procreate Basics: The Artist’s Hand in a Digital World
DESCRIPTION:Learn the essentials of Procreate in this hands-on\, 3-hour workshop designed for beginners and open to anyone who wants to sharpen their digital art skills. We’ll cover the entire Procreate interface\, from creating a new canvas to mastering brushes\, layers\, masking\, alpha lock\, clipping masks\, color tools\, selections\, and export options. You’ll work step-by-step on a guided donut illustration project\, applying each tool and feature as you learn it\, and then transform that illustration into a professional-quality sticker design — ready for printing\, merchandise\, or use in digital applications. \nDigital art and AI art are not the same. In this class\, you’ll experience true\, hand-drawn digital art created entirely by the artist. Every brushstroke\, color choice\, and layer is placed with intention\, just like traditional painting or drawing\, but using the iPad as the canvas and the stylus as the brush. The artistry lies in the hand and mind of the creator — the tools simply help bring the vision to life. \nBy the end of class\, you’ll: \n• Understand Procreate’s interface and essential tools \n• Organize and work with layers effectively \n• Apply masking\, alpha lock\, and clipping masks \n• Use color palettes\, selections\, and transformations confidently \n• Export your work for print or digital sharing \n• Create a high-quality digital sticker design from your illustration\, suitable for multiple professional uses \nInstructor Bio: \nLisa Albinus is a professional illustrator and art educator with over 20 years of experience in both traditional and digital mediums. She teaches across multiple platforms and institutions\, including Procreate classes for teens and adults. Lisa’s work includes children’s book illustration\, botanical art\, and surface design\, and she is passionate about empowering artists to bring their ideas to life — whether on paper or on an iPad. \nWebsite: https://www.lisaalbinus.com/ \nInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/lalbinus/ \nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090892722601 \nLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lisa-albinus-42a052110/ \ncreating with everyone.

SUMMARY:Cabarrus Art Guild Workshop: A Taste of Paper Marbling: Japanese and European Styles
DESCRIPTION:Curious about paper marbling? In this half-day introductory experience\, students will explore two distinct approaches to this centuries-old art form: Japanese suminagashi and European combed marbling. We’ll begin with suminagashi\, the ancient Japanese practice of floating ink on water to create delicate\, organic patterns. This is an accessible (and very “Zen”!) entry point into marbling\, allowing participants to quickly begin creating original designs. In the second part of the class\, the instructor will demonstrate traditional European marbling techniques\, and students can take turns working on a shared marbling tank to experience these classic combed patterns firsthand. Participants will leave with a collection of their own marbled papers (which can be used in collage\, book-and cardmaking\, decoupage\, etc.) and a foundational understanding of Japanese and European marbling. No prior experience is necessary. For more information\, please visit www.cabarrusartguild.org.
