DESCRIPTION:The demonstration I will be providing is a wood burning technique on a 3-dimensional sculpture\, using mixed media (i.e.\, wood\, glue\, paint).The sculpture will already be prepared on its base using glue\, and the demonstration itself will focus on the wood burning techniques used to finish the piece. After this demonstration\, you should have the basic skills to get started burning designs too! SUMMARY:Northern Lights Wool Painting
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever dreamed of seeing the splendor of the Aurora Borealis in person? This is the next best thing to a Scandinavian vacation! Join Jennifer Costa for this exciting exploration of needle-felting techniques. The class will cover the basics of landscape needle felting as well as more advanced concepts as we create “layers” of sky and uncover the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights).  \nThe $15 materials fee includes all the wool needed for your project (plus some extra)\, background craft felt\, a foam surface and a felting needle to take home\, and use of additional felting tools during class. If you already have a felting tool kit from a previous class\, bring it along. If you’d like to purchase additional tools (wooden handles\, needles\, finger covers) to take home\, let the instructor know at time of registration\, and she will have them ready for you at class for an additional $10.  \nThis class is appropriate for beginners and experienced needle felters. We’ll work together step-by-step through the project\, giving you opportunities to customize your piece along the way. The finished piece will be 8 by 10 inches and suitable for framing. Feel free to bring a frame\, either 8 by 10 without glass\, or 11 by 14 with glass and mat.   \nPlease bring a pair of small\, sharp scissors. \nJennifer Costa\, owner of The Woolen Palette (https://bit.ly/3W66HDJ)\, is a homeschooling mom and professional musician\, a Charlotte resident originally from the New Orleans area. SUMMARY:Create a Goldfinch Needle Felted Fiber Painting
DESCRIPTION: Learn to use needle felting wool fiber to “paint” a picture.  We will be starting with a prefelt base (sheet of partially felted wool) that has a transfer of the simple photo of a goldfinch in a flower garden. Then\, using our fibers and needles we will try and recreate our picture in fiber (and of course use our creative license!).  We will be learning to blend fibers to get our results. Our “painting” will be an 8 x 10 picture which can easily be placed in an 11 x 14 mat and frame. \nThe materials will include fiber to complete the project\, 2 felting needles\, prefelt base with transfer of image of sleeping kitty and a foam work pad.    Students only need to bring a sense of humor and their imagination! \nIrene began needle felting (both 2D and 3D) in 2002 when the fiber art form was relatively unknown in the United States.  Since then\, she has won many awards for her work across the country.  She has produced an instructional DVD and is currently working on a needle felting book.  \nIrene lives in Western North Carolina near Asheville with her husband and fur family.

DESCRIPTION:Learn the essentials of Procreate in this hands-on\, 3-hour workshop designed for beginners and open to anyone who wants to sharpen their digital art skills. We’ll cover the entire Procreate interface\, from creating a new canvas to mastering brushes\, layers\, masking\, alpha lock\, clipping masks\, color tools\, selections\, and export options. You’ll work step-by-step on a guided donut illustration project\, applying each tool and feature as you learn it\, and then transform that illustration into a professional-quality sticker design — ready for printing\, merchandise\, or use in digital applications. \nDigital art and AI art are not the same. In this class\, you’ll experience true\, hand-drawn digital art created entirely by the artist. Every brushstroke\, color choice\, and layer is placed with intention\, just like traditional painting or drawing\, but using the iPad as the canvas and the stylus as the brush. SUMMARY:Cabarrus Art Guild Workshop: Create a Goldfinch Needle Felted Fiber Painting
DESCRIPTION: Learn to use needle felting wool fiber to “paint” a picture.  We will be starting with a prefelt base (sheet of partially felted wool) that has a transfer of the simple photo of a goldfinch in a flower garden. Then\, using our fibers and needles\, we will try and recreate our picture in fiber (and of course use our creative license!).  We will be learning to blend fibers to get our results. Our “painting” will be an 8 x 10 picture which can easily be placed in an 11 x 14 mat and frame. The materials will include fiber to complete the project\, 2 felting needles\, prefelt base with transfer of image of sleeping kitty and a foam work pad.    Students only need to bring a sense of humor and their imagination! Students will learn the “layered cup” process to create organic\, wood-grain patterns. To add a personal touch\, we will also demonstrate how to “wreck” the pour—using tools to disrupt the rings and create intricate\, feathered designs and unique movement within the piece. \nWhat You’ll Learn: \n●       The Layered Pour: How to stack paint colors to ensure distinct rings without mixing. \n●       The Ring Technique: Mastering the steady\, circular motion used to deposit paint onto the canvas. \n●       Creative Modification: Using “wrecking” tools to customize the final design. \nMaterials: \n–          All- inclusive; Instructors provide all canvases\, Floetrol\, premium paints\, and tools. \n–          Gloves and aprons will also be provided for protection of skin and clothing. Participants should wear comfortable clothing & shoes they don’t mind getting a little paint on. \nPlease Note\, Canvases require a level 24-hour dry time; They will have to be left\, to stay level while drying.
