SUMMARY:Carolinas Community Band Festival
DESCRIPTION:Piedmont Community Band is excited to announce our inaugural Carolinas Community Band Festival on April 26\, 2025\, from 11 a. m. to 4 p.m. at the Kannapolis Performing Arts Center! A celebration of four local symphonic community bands and talent from right here in the Carolinas. Each band will give a concert of approximately 40 minutes\, allowing everyone to enjoy their music and experience their style. We will also have local music related vendors showcasing their services and products. Lastly\, like any proper get together\, we will host local food trucks for lunch and snacks! Admission is FREE! Help us put the ‘community’ in Community Band and support your local music programs with us this coming spring. Who knows – maybe it will be you dusting off an instrument and joining us in years to come!

SUMMARY:Las Guaracheras
DESCRIPTION:Las Guaracheras is a powerful Latin Music sextet from Cali\, Colombia that performs Afro-Caribbean rhythms such as salsa\, as well as music from the Pacific region of Colombia. Their compositions and lyrics revolve around the revindication and recognition of the role of women in the music industry – especially in the Latin Music scene in Colombia – and seek to express the power and strength of women as sources of love\, hope\, resilience and creativity. \nSelected to form part of the 2025/26 Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Performing Arts Exchange (PAGE)\, Las Guaracheras have been featured at U.S. venues such as: Lotus Festival (IN)\, Freight & Salvage (CA)\, etc. and in 2025 will be at LACMA Latin Sounds (CA)\, Twin Cities Jazz Festival (MN) and others. They have performed in Europe and the Americas at venues such as: Sunfest (Canada)\, Cubadisco (Cuba)\, BIME (Spain)\, Portamérica Latitudes/FIMpro\, and El Zócalo (Mexico).

SUMMARY:Brass Queens
DESCRIPTION:Brass Queens has developed a signature sound that sits right at the intersection of the Big Apple and the Big Easy: their music is deeply inspired by and pays homage to the New Orleans brass band tradition while injecting the upbeat\, multifaceted energy of their New York home into each performance. The result is a nonstop party: a Brass Queens show will have you singing along to classic pop hits\, dancing your heart out to reggaeton\, and feeling like you’ve been transported to Frenchman Street. In February 2021\, Brass Queens released their debut EP Royal Street on all streaming platforms\, and on October 27\, 2023 they released their first full-length album titled Black & Gold. \nThis is going to be a TON of fun! Imagine the Davis Theatre packed with incredible brass players\, a good funky drummer\, and all of YOU moving to the beat! We might not have Frenchman Street\, we don’t have subways and street performers too often\, but on March 21st Union St will be the place to catch that energy.
