DESCRIPTION:Las Guaracheras is a powerful Latin Music sextet from Cali\, Colombia that performs Afro-Caribbean rhythms such as salsa\, as well as music from the Pacific region of Colombia. Their compositions and lyrics revolve around the revindication and recognition of the role of women in the music industry – especially in the Latin Music scene in Colombia – and seek to express the power and strength of women as sources of love\, hope\, resilience and creativity. \nSelected to form part of the 2025/26 Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Performing Arts Exchange (PAGE)\, Las Guaracheras have been featured at U.S. venues such as: Lotus Festival (IN)\, Freight & Salvage (CA)\, etc. and in 2025 will be at LACMA Latin Sounds (CA)\, Twin Cities Jazz Festival (MN) and others. They have performed in Europe and the Americas at venues such as: Sunfest (Canada)\, Cubadisco (Cuba)\, BIME (Spain)\, Portamérica Latitudes/FIMpro\, and El Zócalo (Mexico).

SUMMARY:New CAG Class: Fairies and Sprites Needle Felting with Meghan McKillop
DESCRIPTION:Come experience the magic of needle felting. This is a great opportunity to learn how to create a wool-felt sprite or fairy for yourself or as a gift.  Meghan will provide you with the supplies (including felting tools to be used in the session) to create the fairy/sprite and mount it on a base for display. Meghan will have kits available in a variety of colors and you will be able to select your kit at the start of the class.  She will walk you through creating a wire skeleton or armature and then the techniques to cover the armature with wool\, add clothing and locks and then mount on a display.  You will be able to customize by adding a fun figure like a dog\, cat\, flowers\, birds or other items. Basic accessories will be provided\, and others will be available during the class. The instructor will assist you through each step of the process\, offering individual help as needed. Meghan will provide a variety of examples for you to use to in creating your fairy/sprite with basic written instructions. DESCRIPTION:Piedmont Community Band is excited to announce our inaugural Carolinas Community Band Festival on April 26\, 2025\, from 11 a. m. to 4 p.m. at the Kannapolis Performing Arts Center! A celebration of four local symphonic community bands and talent from right here in the Carolinas. Each band will give a concert of approximately 40 minutes\, allowing everyone to enjoy their music and experience their style. DESCRIPTION:Born of a session in 1968 in Paisley\, Scotland\, and named for the town’s historic weaving industry and local poet laureate Robert Tannahill\, the Tannahill Weavers have made an international name for their special brand of Celtic music\, blending the beauty of traditional melodies with the power of modern rhythms. As one of the world’s premier traditional Celtic bands\, their diverse repertoire spans the centuries with fire-driven instrumentals\, topical songs\, original ballads and lullabies\, and humorous tales of life in Scotland. \nIt’s been too long since we had a fantastic Celtic band here at the Davis. Perennial favorites We Banjo 3 have unfortunately stopped touring\, leaving us seeking a new favorite live band from across the pond. Tannahill Weavers\, especially with the recent addition of Iain MacGillivray\, might be just the group to scratch that itch! With a long and storied career of songs and stories\, this group is world-renowned for the life they breathe into traditional Scottish and Irish music.

DESCRIPTION:Back by Popular demand… Susan Edmonson is teaching a fabulous fiber art class at the Guild! The mountains are a perfect place to view beautiful scenery\, with the rolling hills and delicate wildflowers along every path for this very unique project! Susan has created many different little fabric books from Italy to Alaska\, her love of hand stitching\, painting\, collage\, and collecting\, all combines to create these little treasures. In this class she will walk you through creating landscapes\, collage appliqué to create unusual textures. All of which will be lavished with hand embroidery techniques using hand-dyed fabrics\, trims\, and threads. The pattern and kit will be provided by Susan for your convenience if you would like. The kit details ($30) are listed on our website under classes. SUMMARY:The Special Consensus
DESCRIPTION:The Special Consensus bluegrass band is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2025. Their contemporary sound has made their music a modern classic. Band leader and founder Greg Cahill is a recipient of the prestigious Distinguished Achievement Award from the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) and was inducted into the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America (SPBGMA) Hall of Greats. Special Consensus has received seven awards from IBMA and two Grammy nominations. We know that the Davis Theatre patrons LOVE bluegrass. Well\, bluegrass doesn’t get a whole lot better than The Special Consensus! They are no stranger to our area\, having performed numerous times for events with the Charlotte Folk Society and at other venues\, but this will be their debut at the Davis Theatre. They are bluegrass royalty and we can’t wait to welcome them to the Davis!

DESCRIPTION:This is your chance to create a customized wool painting. The wool is needed to create the design\, and some embellishments will be provided to further customize your piece. You can select a landscape\, floral design or other subject.  You will work with the instructor to define colors\, layout and potential embellishments at the time of registration. This is an intermediate 2D needle felting class. If you do not have your own needle felting tools including a felting pad and needles\, please let Lynn know at registration. This is your chance to take your 2D needle felting techniques to the next level. You can display your painting in a frame\, use it as a pillow\, decorate a bag or a piece of clothing. When you register\, please provide Lynn with the photo that you want to use for your painting. She will prepare a kit just for you.
