DESCRIPTION:Join the Cabarrus Art Guild\, a ClearWater Tenant Organization\, which coordinates and hosts these monthly Free Art Demonstrations by local artists for the enjoyment of the public. Location: Lower Level Greenway Gallery.  Please use the Greenway Gallery doors – double-glass doors on the Southeast end of the Main Building\, facing Kerr Street – and please arrive before 2:00 to be seated before the demonstration starts. Main Entrance will be closed. Free parking on campus (3 lots). \n\n\n\nA bit About the Art Form: Carolina Snowflake – by Melinda Pavelyev \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis craft design was first created by Billie Ruth Sudduth. Billie Ruth was born in Sewanee\, TN in 1945 and grew up in Birmingham\, AL. After college\, in addition to being a wife and mother to 2 boys she worked as a social worker and school psychologist. During summer break in 1983 she took a basket making class at the community college. She fell in love. In 1989 Billie Ruth left her job at the school to do basketry full time. \nBillie Ruth’s baskets have been on display at the Smithsonian Institution\, Museum of Art and Design in New York\, and other prestigious places. She was named a Living Treasure by North Carolina in 1997. This is the highest honor for North Carolinians in the crafting field. Billie Ruth died in 2021. \n\n\n\nNo need to register\nThe event is free and open to the public.\nPlease arrive before 2 PM\, so as not to interrupt the speaker’s\npresentation

DESCRIPTION:The Piedmont Choral Society (PCS)\, the region’s premiere auditioned chorus\, is setting the stage for its biggest holiday season yet with the presentation of “Christmas Time Is Here.” The popular concert series featuring the 80-voice choir\, with orchestra\, will be held at a new\, expansive venue: First Baptist Church\, 200 Branchview Dr SE\, Concord\, NC 28025. \nUnder the direction of Artistic Director Joseph Judge\, the “Christmas Time Is Here” program is designed to be the perfect “jump-start” to the Christmas season\, blending lively arrangements with treasured classical pieces. \n“I’m both thrilled and humbled to be conducting my thirteenth Holiday Concert with the Piedmont Choral Society\,” said Judge. “This year’s program\, ‘Christmas Time Is Here’\, blends the sacred and the secular\, featuring jazzy favorites like Barbara Streisand’s ‘Jingle Bells’ and ‘It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.’ We’ll also present two beautiful fantasy works by Ralph Vaughan Williams\, including the Fantasia on Christmas Carols. DESCRIPTION:The Piedmont Choral Society (PCS)\, the region’s premiere auditioned chorus\, is setting the stage for its biggest holiday season yet with the presentation of “Christmas Time Is Here.” The popular concert series featuring the 80-voice choir\, with orchestra\, will be held at a new\, expansive venue: First Baptist Church\, 200 Branchview Dr SE\, Concord\, NC 28025. Under the direction of Artistic Director Joseph Judge\, the “Christmas Time Is Here” program is designed to be the perfect “jump-start” to the Christmas season\, blending lively arrangements with treasured classical pieces. “I’m both thrilled and humbled to be conducting my thirteenth Holiday Concert with the Piedmont Choral Society\,” said Judge. “This year’s program\, ‘Christmas Time Is Here’\, blends the sacred and the secular\, featuring jazzy favorites like Barbara Streisand’s ‘Jingle Bells’ and ‘It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.’ We’ll also present two beautiful fantasy works by Ralph Vaughan Williams\, including the Fantasia on Christmas Carols. It will be the perfect ‘jump-start’ to the season!” The Piedmont Choral Society (PCS) is the region’s premiere\, all-volunteer\, auditioned chorus. Dedicated to enriching the community through high-caliber performances\, the PCS presents sacred and secular choral masterworks with orchestra and celebrates over 30 years of music in the Kannapolis\, Concord\, and Salisbury area. This project is supported by a grant from the NC Arts Council and the Cabarrus Arts Council. Admission is free\, no ticket required and donations accepted.
