DESCRIPTION:Rowan Big Band will offer a free concert at Central United Methodist Church on Saturday\, May 31st at 4:00 pm\, featuring an 18-member traditional community big band in style of Glenn Miller\, Count Basie\, Duke Ellington and other great early twentieth-century bandleaders\, home-based in Landis\, North Carolina and specializing in Great American Songbook favorites and “Big Band Swing.” \nFirst organized in 2006\, the Band is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving this uniquely American Style of music and sharing our appreciation of it with others. The members of the band volunteer their talents for performances\, and the net proceeds from their musical performances are used to support worthwhile local charities. SUMMARY:Art on the Go: Learn to Make Cyanotypes
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with the Cabarrus County Libraries\, the Cabarrus Arts Council will provide 12 art sessions across 6 library branches as part of our Art on the Go initiative for Adults in the Summer of 2025. \nWhat is a Cyanotype? Cyanotypes are one of the earliest photographic processes in the history of photography. Using the sun or UV light as our main printing source\, participants are in for a fun-filled one-hour session using the cyanotype process to create a series of artistic prints using readily available materials. Attendees will select from a range of materials such as found objects\, feathers\, and plants to create interesting compositions. No experience is necessary.
