About the Artist
After exploring many avenues of producing ceramics I have settled on carbon trapped porcelain. This is a process in which black smoke is created in the kiln at a certain stage in the firing, and the glazes are formulated to trap the carbon from that smoke. The results are all accidental. The beauty of the effects created by this method can be breathtaking. Their unpredictability can be humbling. There is a magic in opening a kiln full of surprises.
