About the Artist
Experimenting with handmade paper has led me to discover ways to push the medium beyond its traditional role as a substrate. The paper pulp I create yields sculptural work with a translucent, membrane-like quality, and an inherent tension resulting from its propensity to shrink as it dries. At once beautiful and uncomfortable, the expressive properties of this material are a rich source for exploring the metaphoric potential of biological forms and systems.
