Guest Curator Proposal Guidelines

The Cabarrus Arts Council invites proposals from experienced and visionary curators to guest curate one of four annual exhibitions in The Galleries located in the historic 1876 Cabarrus courthouse. Each exhibit should celebrate diverse, compelling voices in the arts, showcasing regional and national artists across varied media, while aligning with the Arts Council’s mission of inspiring, engaging, and fostering community through the arts.

Proposal Requirements:

  • Exhibition Theme: Describe a proposed theme that is both thought-provoking and accessible to a wide audience. Themes should be adaptable for artists of various backgrounds and mediums.
  • Artist Roster: Suggest a roster of artists, prioritizing regional talent and artists with national recognition.
  • Engagement: Outline ideas for community engagement, such as artist talks, workshops, or other interactive elements that could deepen audience connections to the work on display.

Proposals should reflect our commitment to accessibility, inclusivity, and artistic excellence.

Please email your resume and examples of prior exhibitions curated, if available. We look forward to working together to bring new perspectives and experiences to The Galleries and the vibrant Cabarrus community.
