Cabarrus Arts Council Invites Local Artists to Apply for 2027 Local Art Lift
Written by Charlotte Marcellus on .
The Cabarrus Arts Council is inviting local artists to apply for the 2027 Local Art Lift program, an opportunity designed to elevate local artists while supporting arts programming throughout Cabarrus County.
Now in its third year, Local Art Lift commissions three Cabarrus County artists to create original works of art that will serve as centerpieces at the Cabarrus Arts Council’s annual Breakfast for the Arts fundraiser on Thursday, May 13, 2027. Since 2002, Breakfast for the Arts has been one of the Cabarrus Arts Council’s premier fundraisers, dedicated to championing local artists with generous community support.
More than 90 tables will feature artwork created by participating artists, putting their work directly in front of community members and arts supporters. The centerpiece artwork will be on sale during the event, directly supporting arts programming in our county, cultivating a vibrant Cabarrus connected through the arts.
Each selected artist will create 30 original pieces, with three artists selected for the 2027 program. Artists will receive a $1,500 honorarium for their work.
Artists who live or work in Cabarrus County and are 18 years or older are eligible to apply. Accepted mediums include painting, photography, pottery, wood, basketry, glass, mixed media and sculpture.
Selected artists will create 30 pieces measuring between 6H x 6W x 4D inches and 10H x 8W x 6D inches. Artists will also participate in program activities leading up to Breakfast for the Arts, including a studio visit, Toast to the Host and event setup.
Applications for the 2027 Local Art Lift program are due October 9, 2026.
