From Zines to Stained Glass: A Mixed Media Visual Arts Camp

Summer Camp: Material Exploration

From Zines to Stained Glass: A Mixed Media Visual Arts Camp is a fun-filled, half-day program for young creatives. Experimentation, creativity, and the use of recycled materials are at the core of this summer camp. Projects such as zines, artist trading cards, tin-foil art, and faux stained glass, to name a few, will be created throughout the week. Students will explore a variety of arts and crafts and have fun along the way. This camp is designed to introduce young creatives to new art activities using recycled materials and to help them develop stronger problem-solving skills over the course of the week, all under the leadership of instructor, Noël Ali.

About Noël Ali:

“I am an art teacher with eight years of official experience, though I’ve been an artist and educator for as long as I can remember. Creativity has always been my language, and teaching allows me to share that passion with others every day. Growing up, I had the opportunity to travel widely, and those experiences deeply shaped my perspective and artistic voice. Today, I bring that global inspiration into my classroom, encouraging students to explore, imagine, and discover their own creative journeys.”

Ukulele: Level Up!

Summer Camp: Material Exploration
Who doesn’t love a ukulele?! Students ages 9-14, with at least some prior experience playing ukulele*, are invited to join us for a week of learning and fun. We’ll find some new chords, learn to play melodies, practice arranging songs, learn some fingerstyle patterns, and have a great time making music together. The week will conclude with a group performance at the Davis Theatre.
*This might include a semester playing in music class at school, participation in a community ukulele club, taking lessons, or even just some successful self-learning from YouTube videos. Students should be able to read a chord diagram, play a few basic chords (C, F, G, Am, Dm, etc.), and strum in rhythm.
