Cara Bevan will be explaining the art of gourds from the many shapes and types, their history and uses through human civilization up to today’s modern gourd community, fun facts, and demonstrating her use of paperclay and epoxy clay to make her whimsical life-like gourd sculptures. You’ll be able to see the entire process from start to finish and dispel some myths about the amazing art medium that are gourds!
Cara Bevan is a full-time, self-taught artist located in Trinity, NC. She began her career in 2007 and specializes in acrylic paintings, mixed-media gourd sculpture, and book illustration. She’s part of several NC galleries including The Piedmont Craftsmen and Starworks Art Gallery, attends fine art shows and exhibitions throughout the state, and has won numerous awards for her sculptures.
